The
Tavistock youth Cafe provides a meeting place, snack and coffee
bar for young people between the ages of 13 and 19, who can also

workers at the centre.
It’s housed in a double sized purpose built Portacabin at Pixon
Lane and is kitted out with a range of equipment including a
coffee bar serving fair trade tea and coffee also offering cheap
hot and cold snacks, Art stuff!, Table football, Wide screen TV,
DVD / CD players, live music facilities, computers with internet
access and a pool table.
Opening times vary from season to season, email
office@tavistockyouthcafe.co.uk
or call
01822 612851 for up to date times.
The project has a voluntary group of local adults and young
people as its trustees and board. It’s also backed by a Young
Persons User Group and Tavistock Youth Council.
The need for a youth cafe was identified as part of the
Tavistock Market and Coastal Town initiative when a survey asked
residents what facilities were needed in the area. Costing over
£100.00 to set up the cafe was built and is staffed through
grants secured by the board. It’s now in the process of looking
for new funding to secure its sustainability.
